Supplies?

Here are the supplies you will need for your new arrival.
  1. A square or round cage(17 in. or higher)
  2. 3 or more toys
  3. food
  4. cuttlebone
  5. different kind of perches
  6. and anything else you want to give them!

Male or Female?

To tell if it is a male or female you have to look at the cere(the nasal area). If it is blue than it is a boy. If it is brown, pinkish, or blue/white it's a girl. That easy! Have a great time with your new bird!

AGE,Age,age

To tell what age a parakeet is you have to look at the eye and head or if it has an ID band. A young parakeet about 0-4 months has all black eyes. A parakeet about 4-6 months has very dark grey irises. A parakeet about 6-8 months has medium grey irises. A parakeet that is 8 months or older has light irises.

Diet

As you know parakeets have to have a balanced diet like any other animal. Parakeets should have parakeet seeds, romaine lettuce, fruits, and carrots. I feed my birds mostly carrots, romaine lettuce, and fruits. Also add some millet spray in the cage once a week(As a treat!). If you want to know more search it up or get a good book!

Pictures,Pictures,Pictures!

Finally some pictures! Here are some of the pictures I have.

Me taming still >.<

Well I am still trying to tame my budgies. I just got them like 4 or 5 weeks ago and they are still not used to my hand. Boo. But still trying! I keep sticking my hand in there and they don't flap they just stay there but i can see them quivering a little. A few more weeks of this,I will be able to take them out! Oh,By the way my two birds are called Mickey and Mini!

I will post up pictures soon!

How to tame your parakeets

Taming your parakeet requires time and patience. When you get a new parakeet and you want to take it out later just follow these steps. You will notice that your parakeet is afraid of you. To get it to get used to you is to talk to it quietly and turn your attention on them. After a few days of that you can slowly put your hand in the cage and keep it in still. Do this everyday to get it used to your hand in the cage. Then after a few weeks of that slowly move your hand close to it and see if it is scared or moving away from you. If it isnt afraid than you can push the abdomen and it will put a foot or feet onto you finger! Just try, try, try! You will get it!
